Information and traffic management systems - TriTrans

TriTrans – a complete information system for efficient and attractive public transportation

The modular design provides a flexible system that can be extended in steps.

TriTrans is a module-based information system for public transportation. The system operates in real time and serves all parties involved – traffic planners, dispatchers, drivers and passengers.

TriTrans is designed in cooperating modules, which together create a flexible system that can be extended in steps.
The modules are separate and their tasks are well defined. The only link between the modules is the information they send to each other via firmly defined interfaces. This makes it possible to replace the modules easily or to upgrade them without affecting other modules.
Another advantage is that you can start with one or a few modules, and then make necessary extensions when needed.

TriTrans is primarily designed for bus traffic, but it can easily be adapted for trains, ferries or other means of transport.

The following modules are included in the complete system:

Traffic control system Vemos

Vemos provides information on the geographical position of each vehicle in operation, shows deviations from the timetable and collects statistcal data.

Vehicle computer Triveco 8

Triveco 8 reports the position and the status to Vemos but it is also the hub for the vehicle components, controlling inside and outside signs, voice announcements etc. Of course, it can also be used without a TriTrans system.

Presentation system IntraInfo

The presentation system is based on a special software providing information to waiting passengers at terminals, bus stops and more. The information is presented by visual displays, monitors and voice and voice announcements of various types.

Dars, a communication system

The connecting link in TriTrans is Dars (from ”DAtaRadioSystem”), a system for wireless communication. The system can be designed to transmit vehicle position, vehicle status, text messages, alarms and more, triggered by events or the clock.

Depot system

The depot systemet provides a link between the separate vehicles and the central system. Its task is to transmit data while the vehicle is at the depot. Primarily, the data consists of new databases or programs to be deployed to the vehicles.

Rasc, a signal priority system

Rasc is a system for giving priority to buses in intersections where there are traffic lights. The system includes software in Triveco 8 and the road side computer IRU-SS – an intelligent receiver unit that is installed in the control unit.
The system is installed in several road instersections.

RAPP, a program for analyzing run-time data

RAPP – Route Analysis Program Package – is a separate program that analyzes, compiles and presents trip-route and trip-time data, along with distances covered, periods the doors of the vehicle are open, periods the vehicle is standing at a stop, numbers of passengers getting on and off, etc.

Internet and WAP

With TriTrans it is possible to provide traffic information in real time to the Internet and mobile phone (wap). The program is called Vemos Web and is an supplementary module to the traffic management system Vemos.

More information about TriTrans and its components can be found in our TriTrans brochure, available in English (pdf file, 276 kB).
